I just had to share something that is rocking my world right now…It’s a very simple song written by a worship leader from Newspring Church in Anderson, SC.  Go check out his stuff here.  “Give it All” is my favorite!

-it’s getting cold outside…I love it…I can’t stand the hot weather!

-Heading to a CD Release party tonight for this guy…Should be pretty fun!

-Got my first parent/teacher conference for Braiden today…this should be fun.

-Heading to the GT game this weekend.  My brother got us some tickets to the homecoming game this weekend and I’m jacked up about it.  We’ll be tailgating for a good while before game-time and I’m just pumped to be down there…should be fun!

-OK, here are the predictions…GT 24 UVA 17 & LSU 17 UGA 14

As I was studying this morning, I came across an idea that is often overlooked…when we think about the term “submission” we think about wives submitting to their husbands HOWEVER, I first have to submit to Jesus…Although the bible says the husband is head of the wife, it says that Jesus is head of the man…The whole “submission” thing must be seen in my life before I can really be head over my wife and family…Don’t know if any of that makes sense but hey, that’s why it’s my journal…makes sense to me!

I mentioned to my student worship leaders two days ago about the idea of experiencing spiritual attacks…I simply made the statement that if they weren’t feeling attacked spiritually, maybe they aren’t moving forward in their spiritual journey or aren’t making gains for the kingdom…That idea applies to all of us actually…While the attacks suck, it reminds me that I moving the way Jesus is calling me to move and it lets me know that Satan is pissed off about it!

I just wanted to throw an illustration about making the most of a situation…The other night I was at dinner with my youngest son and he was trying to show me his magic tricks…he laid a fork on the table and covered it with his napkin…he waved his hands over the napkin and said whatever a magician is supposed to say and then raised his napkin…For me, I’m thinking he’s very confused because his fork didn’t go anywhere…I was thinking I’m about to have to answer his questions about why can other people make things disappear and he can’t…instead, this is what I got…”daddy look, I made my spoon disappear!”  After I finished laughing my tail off, I realized what he was trying to do….He was committed to pressing forward and not letting something like the “trick” blowing up getting in his way.  As opposed to wondering why the fork was still there, He decided to say hey look, there isn’t a spoon here and I made it disappear…The lessons I learn from a 4 year old are incredible….It’s perspective, making the most of a situation…Regardless of whether or not there was a spoon there to start with, when he raised his napkin there wasn’t a spoon and he was taking credit for it…..for him that night, the glass was 1/2 full.

I’ll be watching my Jackets destroy the Tigers today at noon!  Looking to go 6-1 and crack the top 25!

Last night was pretty cool…Got to hang out my wife and 2 boys and eat some dinner (some pretty good chicken & rice soup) with my world famous grilled cheese sandwiches…What really made the night was making a quick run to DQ to get some ice cream…My boys were out of school today so we let them stay up a little later than normal…Getting the ice cream was cool and on the drive home my two boys were singing my wife and I this song…All in All, very good night!

-We are taking some family pictures this Saturday.  My wife is tired of going to a studio and doing the same ole thing so we are taking a couch and going into someones empty field and over to someones barn to get some pictures…should turn out pretty good.

-My jackets had an ugly win last week but hey, it’s a “W”…We play clemson saturday and I’m confident we will win.  I hope that it will make all the Clemson lovers who think they are turning the corner since Bowden is gone…GT 28 Clemson 17

-UGA at least won their game this past saturday but I wasn’t very impressed with what they did.  UGA plays a ticked off Vandy team this week following their Loss last week.  Vandy wins 21-17 on the road! (I’ll go againist the dogs every week!)

-My wife has a dinner deal tomorrow night and she is freaking out about it.  Glad I’m not involved so that her stress isn’t caused by me

-We have our kids Halloween costumes…We are going Toy Story all the way…My oldest is woody and my youngest is buzz lightyear.

How many times are you around a group of teenagers and your head starts to hurt because the noise level is way too high?  How many times has a teacher been trying to teach Biology to a group of teenagers and constantly have to ask them to quiet down?  How many times have you watched a teacher when you were little turn the lights out giving the signal to be silent?  How many times have you heard a parent tell their child to stop asking so many questions?  You get my drift…kids talk….a lot!

So often we try and get kids to shut up because all they do is talk and talk and talk…..Tonight, I’m taking a different approach.  I want them to do exactly what everyone else is telling them not to….SPEAK!  Greater things are coming!
