On Sunday Night I had the privilege of baptizing 4 of my students…It never gets old watching people exchange ordinary for extraordinary in their life journey! I’m very proud of these kids and excited about watching how God will continue to use them to transform our city!

WOW! Nearly 2 weeks without me typing some meaningless garbage on this blog….It’s actually been nice to take an intentional break from the blog and just gather my thoughts..I’ll throw up some posts later about what’s going on…
I’m talking with my students tonight about what defines them (and me of course 
)…I hear to many times people getting down on themselves and always talking about their screw ups defining who they are….I have a different approach…the ONE who created us (in HIS image by the way) is the one that defines us…although we are small, although we mess up, although we drop the ball from time to time…we are still known and prized by majesty…If I let everything that’s wrong with my life define who I am…I would be freakin miserable.
I don’t know what the deal was but I have been in vacation mode, even though our vacation ended 3 days ago…I was actually coming into our facility at church on sunday afternoon and forgot the alarm code….sounds funny but listening to the freakin siren going off isn’t all it’s cracked up to be…I even forgot the PIN number for my checkcard….my brain is just not coming back work as quickly as I would have hoped…at any rate….today seems better and i’m moving a lot faster than the last couple of days…I’m getting back into the swing of things!
-Heading out of town tomorrow for the next 8 days…We will be on a cruise with the family…Should be fun…I’m going to enjoy the food
-My youngest son turns 4 today. We had his party last weekend and I had to dress up like a freakin cucumber…Larry The Cucumber from veggie tales….Everyone seemed to have a blast though so it was worth it.
-I was a little off in my predictions last week for college football….Here they are for this week…GT 35 Miss St 17 and UGA 24 ASU 27….That’s right, I’m calling for UGA to lose!
-My oldest son Braiden has really been doing well in school. He’s all about getting his homework done and making sure we check his folder and that we put it back in his bag….he even checks behind us to make sure we made his lunch and put it in his bag….He’s all about his school routine (except the bedtime of course!)
-Did I mention that I’m out of town for the next 8 days? I’m stoked about the trip and this will be the last blog post until 9/29….sorry to the couple of readers who actually take time to read the meaningless crap I put up…..
I’ve been talking with my students about core habits….not specifically core habits for a christian, just core habits for people…I’m pumped about what we are talking about tonight! This is something that we all have to have; otherwise the burden is to much for us to carry.
I’m gripped right now by a phrase Tomlin sings off his new album, Hello Love…
“I will rise when HE calls my name.“
That’s something serious to sing out…that can’t be something that isnt’ true, something that isn’t genuine, or something that isn’t sincere…We have to mean that…I will rise, when He calls my name. As I was singing along a little bit ago, I started to ask myself….Will I really? Will I really rise up when HE calls my name like this person, or this person, or this person? Will I really step up and do it right away? The moment he calls my name step out, to make a move, to do something radical….will I do it? I think I can honestly say right now, yes…It’s a weird feeling to think that I can say yes to that question but I’m wrestling with some stuff right now that I’m actually OK with..I’m actually comfortable with…that I’m actually excited about possibly doing…
So, will you rise when (and he will) calls your name?

I’m in Birmingham with my wife for a two day conference type deal. It’s being put on by student life and I’m freakin pumped to be here….my wife and I need this time of refreshing like you wouldn’t believe!
